“Sexual harassment is a culture not an instinct”: Arselan Debate Club (YAV)

KAIROUAN, Tunisia- On March 19th, 2015, a third debate session was held under the program of Young Arab Voices (YAV) with a group of young debaters and members of the Arselan association at the office of the Tunisian Association of Democratic Women (ATFD), Kairouan.

The motion was entitled “this house believes that sexual harassment is a culture not an instinct.”

The house of the opposition was the winning team.

This debate session was not held to prove whether or not sexual harassment is a culture or an instinct but rather to practice the different debating skills and techniques. That is why the winning team was the team that made a better performance at different levels.

The debate was held in the Arabic language.

Noteworthy, the motion of the first debate session was entitled “Some believe that the application of Sharia’ restricts women rights”. As for the second motion, it was entitled: “This house regrets the Tunisian revolution.”
